What a maroon

Jimmy Carter, who I used to at least respect if not actually agree with much, has lost it permanently, and is in Al Gore land now, so much so that I'm surprised he's not sporting a Unabomber beard and 50 pounds of extra fat. Inviting Michael Moore to sit in the President's box at the Democratic National Convention was dumb, divisive and unhelpful to the party; saying his two favorite movies ever were Casablanca and Fahrenheit 9/11 was an insulting partisan lie; and this is just atrociously, psychotically moronic.

Here are sections of the Chris Matthews interview with Chiclet Tooth Boy, from the post by Just One Minute's post linked in the title above, with JOM's commentary interspersed:

"CARTER: Well, one parallel is that the Revolutionary War, more than any other war up until recently, has been the most bloody war we‘ve fought. I think another parallel is that in some ways the Revolutionary War could have been avoided. It was an unnecessary war.

"What is "recently", the Civil War? I understand they hold that close to their hearts in the South, but honestly.

"CARTER: Well, I think almost any reasonable person who knew history would say that you can‘t go into an alien environment and force by rule of arms by forcing the people to adopt a strange concept.

"I don't know the Japanese phrase for 'Ridiculous.'"

Hey Jimmy: if you're working for Karl Rove, good job. Take the next year off, you deserve it. If you're being sincere, fall down a deep well and don't call for help. We'll all be better off, especially the next dem presidential candidate.
